School Updates

In the last month, our students have been working hard. As a school we were preparing for MAP and SCReady testing. We launched our MAP assessments with an exciting PEP Rally where students had the opportunity to learn about our testing incentives and compete between grade levels to see who has the most school spirit. As a bonus the students had the opportunity to watch Mr. Morrison kiss a pig! The pig kissing was a school reward for meeting the goal of earning $7000 during the “Fun Run” fundraiser. Th

Celebrating student Success

In April we celebrated our students' talents with the first annual Greenwood Charter Academy Talent Show! The students showed off a wide variety of talents including: singing, dancing, drumming, cheering and stepping. All of our students are so talented. We are proud of our Patriots!

Core Virtues Highlights

This month our Core Virtues were Forgiveness and Courtesy. Our students have learned about forgiving others for mistakes and being courteous to everyone. Our 5K students practiced forgiveness and courtesy by cleaning up campus during Earth Day. The students were excited to forgive people that have littered, as they picked up trash to make our playground area a more beautiful place.

Teacher Spotlight

This month, we celebrate the dedication of our PE teachers Mr. TJ Wilson and Ms. Kendall James. They have gone above and beyond to build strong relationships with our students, while working with every student, every day. Mr. Wilson and Ms. James have also volunteered their time to start our afterschool basketball and volleyball programs. They have been practicing with students for the past three months preparing them to compete against other schools next year. The after school basketball program culminated with a basketball scrimmage, where parents and staff were able to cheer for their favorite Patriot athletes. Our amazing PE teachers volunteered their time to provide this awesome opportunity for our students. We are proud to call Mr. Wilson and Ms. James, teachers of the month.

Community Corner:

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our wonderful community partners! The GCA PTO has done an amazing job helping us to provide activities for our students. The PTO has planned events for teacher appreciation week and helped to plan a Spring community event for our students. The GCA PTO has raised over $12,000 this year, with the goal of earning enough money to provide a large sign for the school. We appreciate all of the hard work and dedication to GCA! Go Patriots!!
